I signed this Open Letter to the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) because of their continued failure to support people of gender and sexual diversities generally, and now their lack of clear condemnation of conversion therapy for trans clients. I am a member of BACP and am waiting to see if this letter, along with the ones by Dominic Davies, changes their mind, and if not I shall consider resigning my membership. It's way beyond time for BACP to step up and protect LGBTQ+ people.
I'm delighted to announce that I am now part of London Sex and Relationships Therapy, a collective of respected counsellors and psychotherapists working with sexual, gender and relationship diversities. We offer individual and relationship therapy to clients who feel that their identity, lifestyle and life experiences are insufficiently understood by mainstream psychotherapy, which might include LGBTQI+, people in non-monogamous or polyamorous relationships, those into kink/BDSM, sex workers, etc. We also offer training and workshops to educators, health professionals and journalists, and to more general audiences (e.g. workplaces, clinics, community groups).
